Yes, after the years of testing, now Comcast’s prepaid internet service will now be available to all Xfinity customers. The new plan ingeniously has been named as Xfinity Prepaid internet service, will allow customers to sign up for the internet service without any credit check or annual contract. The package will allow the users to pay for the internet service on a pay as you go basis, with the refills ranging from seven which will cost them $15 to thirty days which will cost them $45. Comcast is partnering with Boost mobile to sell the $80 prepaid starter kits which will come with a wireless DOCSIS 3.0 gateway and 30 days of service. The download will measure up to 10Mbps downstream and 1Mbps for the uploads and refill will start at $15 for one week. The prepaid plan will work anywhere within Xfinity’s coverage area and while there is no credit check of any type is involved. But you do need to have more than 18 years or older to sign up. The partnership also gives the customers of Boost mobile $5 off on refills. It is available both at Boost Mobile Stores and Comcast website. Currently, there is almost 800 Boost Mobile Stores in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Michigan though they will be in all 4000 of the company’s retail locations by the end of the year.
This announcement came after the Verizon launched its own FiOS prepaid internet service earlier this month, which will offer the speed up to 25Mbpsfor $60 per month. This service however comes, bundled with phone and TV both, which some customers might not need. Other prepaid internet services currently available include mobile hotspots like the Karma-Co which runs on Sprint’s LTE network with the download speed ranging from 6 to 25Mbps, depending upon your location, though the data is available to only one user at a time. Other users that will log on to same hotspot network will need their own prepaid account. The service of Karma also works on a pay per data model which requires refills by the gigabytes.
